The Voice of Death, the Song of Eternal Life
How wondrous!
The voice of death, the melody of mortality—within it sings the song of eternal life, forever dancing to death’s rhythm.
The awareness of death, too, is a natural form of meditation—one that teaches us to live in eternity and, in my experience, opens us to eternal life.
I share with you exactly what I experience.
Whenever the word “death” enters my thoughts, reaches my ears, or I witness someone’s passing, that very word brings the caravan of passing moments to a halt. It places me firmly in the present and, in my mind, takes me straight to the graveyard.
Then a response unfolds:
Whatever tension and rigidity have gathered in my body begin to loosen. For me, “death” becomes an inner exercise through which the mind falls silent and settles into a quiet corner of my own existence—now simply a witness.
Wow! Even the word “death” becomes a doorway to meditation, through which the music of eternal life begins to play. Its melody and rhythm seem to cast a luminous ray, making that presence felt here and now.
When we sense a dimension even before entering it, I understand that feeling as a call from the destination itself—just as the fragrance of flowers drifting through the air beckons us toward a garden or a tree in bloom.
