My Three Moments of Living Fully Alive

This reflection shares three profound moments that revealed the essence of truly living. The first moment arises in a childhood courtyard, looking at the sky, where innocence and silent questions awaken. The second comes through the mother’s face, which becomes more than personal; it becomes a mirror of identity and an era’s story. The third moment unfolds at the birth of a daughter, when, alongside her entry into the world, the writer experiences the birth of silence and innocence within. Through this, death is seen not as an end but as a companion that awakens freedom. In giving her daughter liberty, she herself finds release from the chains of attachment.

My Three Moments of Living Fully Alive

Every moment of my life is a living moment, yet today I talk about three moments.

At that moment, as I stood in the courtyard of the house and gazed up at the sky, what inspired me to look? Was there a question, an experience, a prayer, or my life behind this looking? Was that the courtyard of the house of my young childhood, or of my young understanding?

At that moment, as I gazed at my mother’s face, what did I want to understand? About my mother, or about the house, about our relationship, or about some blossoming identity, which I was recognizing. Was it my mother’s face, or the face of a human being, or the face of the story of an era?

That moment, when my daughter was born. Then I started looking at myself. With the birth of a human being, is someone else also born? Because I saw many things being born in myself at that very moment. Who was that?

The question of death: The one who asked me, “Jinder, don’t you think someone is born for the journey of death?”

The one who was born to die, someone else was being born in him. My own birth, the birth of silence within me, the birth of the awakening of my innocence within me. Even though a daughter was born, she came into life, but the journey of death started deep within me. The precious questions born within me gave birth to a person, making me the first step toward my daughter’s freedom. Truly, at that moment, my daughter had come on the journey of the world, and I had set out on the journey of existence. At that very moment, I became a deep companion to my daughter, giving her true freedom through prayer, and, in the process, I found myself freeing myself from the shackles of attachment.
