When Beauty Looked Back at Me

Beauty becomes shy when innocence recognizes itself.

The face changes with time; consciousness changes the face's meaning.

When Beauty Looked Back at Me

A Conversation with My Own Beauty

Today, when I looked at myself, something unexpected happened.

I began to see a wondrous beauty within me.

For a few moments, I simply looked. Then, strangely, I began to feel shy of my own beauty. It was not the shyness of someone seeking admiration. Nor was it the pride that comes from believing oneself superior to others.

It was something entirely different.

It felt as though, after a long journey, I had suddenly encountered someone I had always known but had never truly met.

My own beauty.

Unable to remain before that moment any longer, I closed my eyes. I wanted to spend a few quiet moments with this mysterious beauty that I had suddenly discovered within myself.

But then, something even more astonishing happened.

My beauty asked me a question:

“What if I were ugly?”

For a moment, I became silent.

What was this question?

Was beauty asking me whether I would still accept her if she lost her form? Was she asking whether my love depended upon appearance? Was she asking whether I had finally learned to recognize the difference between the beauty of a face and the beauty of a soul?

Then, from somewhere within me, a unique courage arose.

I replied:

“It is for your sake that I have forsaken ugliness.”

And with that answer, something within me became clear.

What Is Ugliness?

Perhaps ugliness is not what we see in a mirror.

Perhaps the deepest ugliness begins when a person becomes separated from their own truth.

Anger can make the mind ugly.
Jealousy can make the heart ugly.
Bitterness can make the soul heavy.
Fear can distort our vision.
Ego can prevent us from seeing ourselves.
And self-hatred may be one of the greatest forms of ugliness a human being can carry.

Throughout life, we spend so much time trying to make the outer world beautiful.

We decorate our homes.

We beautify our faces.

We search for beautiful places, beautiful clothes, beautiful relationships, and beautiful words.

Yet how often do we ask:

What am I doing to preserve the beauty within me?

My answer to my own beauty came from this realization.

If there is any beauty within me today, perhaps it is because, consciously or unconsciously, I have spent my life walking away from those things that make the human spirit ugly.

I have tried to leave behind resentment.

I have tried to understand pain rather than worship it.

I have tried to turn my experiences into awareness.

And perhaps every time we abandon a little hatred, a little bitterness, or a little fear, something beautiful quietly returns to us.

The Difference Between Vanity and Self-Love

There is a great difference between vanity and self-love.

Vanity says:

“Look how beautiful I am.”

But self-love says:

“How beautiful it is to finally see myself.”

Vanity needs witnesses.

Self-love can sit alone.

Vanity is afraid of losing beauty.

Self-love knows that beauty was never truly dependent upon the form.

Perhaps that is why I felt shy.

I was not trying to convince myself that I was beautiful.

For the first time, perhaps, I was simply seeing.

And there is a tremendous innocence in seeing oneself without judgment.

For years, we stand before mirrors and examine ourselves.

We search for imperfections.

We compare.

We criticize.

We ask whether we are enough.

But there may come a moment when the mirror disappears.

The judgment disappears.

The comparison disappears.

And suddenly, there is only an encounter.

You are looking at yourself.

And, mysteriously,

you are also being looked at.

When Beauty Asked a Question

The most beautiful part of my experience was not seeing beauty.

It was that beauty questioned me.

“What if I were ugly?”

Perhaps true beauty always asks this question.

Because if our love disappears when beauty changes its form, perhaps we were never in love with beauty at all.

We were attached to appearance.

True beauty does not need protection.

It needs recognition.

And perhaps, when I answered—

“It is for your sake that I have forsaken ugliness.”

—I was not speaking about a face.

I was speaking to the consciousness within me.

I was telling my beauty:

“I have protected you by refusing to permanently become bitter.”

“I have protected you by continuing to look at life with wonder.”

“I have protected you by allowing pain to teach me rather than poison me.”

“I have protected you by learning to forgive myself for being human.”

And perhaps that is the greatest beauty a person can cultivate.

Not the beauty that time will eventually change.

But the beauty that experience deepens.

Beauty Looked Back at Me

When I opened my eyes, something had changed.

My beauty was shining within them.

And it was gazing right back at me.

In that moment, I understood something.

Perhaps beauty is not something we possess.

Perhaps beauty is a relationship.

A relationship between the person we are and the consciousness that is witnessing that person.

The day we stop fighting with ourselves, beauty may begin to appear.

The day we stop comparing ourselves, beauty may become visible.

The day we forgive ourselves, beauty may return.

And the day we finally look into our own eyes without fear—

perhaps beauty looks back.

Today, I did not simply look at myself.

I met myself.

I closed my eyes to spend a few moments with beauty.

But beauty itself began a conversation.

And when I opened my eyes, I discovered something wondrous:

The beauty I had been searching for was not standing before me.

It was looking through me.

A Final Reflection

Perhaps one day, each of us should sit quietly before our own existence and ask:

If everything about my outer appearance changed tomorrow, what beauty would remain?

The answer may reveal the beauty we have spent an entire lifetime overlooking.

Because true beauty is not merely what the eyes can see.

It is what remains when the eyes finally learn how to see.

“The day I stopped asking whether I was beautiful, beauty itself opened its eyes within me and asked, ‘What if I were ugly?’ I smiled and replied, ‘For your sake, I have spent my life forsaking everything that makes a soul ugly.’”

And then I opened my eyes—

and beauty looked back at me.

Life is God experiencing Self

Thank you to Nature for the feelings she gave me,  the trees, mountains,  her many lakes and oceans,  for the sun sets of color,  the clouds that dance in the sky,  for everything she gives wanting nothing  but love in return!!! Thanks You to The world:  For all the good and bad people  I have encountered along the road,  for the lessons you taught me, even if they where bad,  it was still a good lesson to be learned  and for this I thank you... Blessings!!!

I experience myself as the conscious

'There is no "I" but I.' 'Then is there no "you" but you?' 'I, always I,' 'Gives me to think, I will meditate upon it.' 'Do nothing of the kind!'  'To "meditate" means using split-mind:  just look from within and see  - see  that so it Is!  Stop splitting and stay Whole!' Whatever we may be, we are being 'lived'.  We are not traveling, as we think:  we are being 'travelled'.

It is amazing how Infinite we are

When I wake up early and go for a walk early  enough to see the sunrise,  if I keep still and watch for a few minutes  I can actually enter in the moment of this movement.  In all my experience,  I become just Energetic aware that I am here,  standing at this special moment on the surface of this special spot;  and  this spot is going, going for away toward the stars  but very close to me,  then  galaxy, more stars,  more wonderful  - unique and amazing colors  then more universe, more and more billions miles away,  like before Jesus- before birth of this planet,  but close, more close, In me -  in myself.  And  this very moment experiencing the whole universe along with me,  in me  while I feel I am infinite  and  I am beyond the universe

O, My Naughty Shaheer! First, I see you. You are always in My sight. And then I guide you lightly. Sometimes strongly. I hold a sword of love, and with this sword, I vanquish all ills that never belonged in your heart in the first place. I vanquish ill will. I vanquish all that which is opposed to love. Beloveds, in My Presence, what can you do but love? What barrier to love can exist when you are surrounded by My love, and you sink into My love. You float on a raft o f My love. Where else would you want to be? Where else is there for you to be? There is nowhere else but right here right now with Me. Do not bow. Jump instead. God is with you. This is an occasion for joy. Be joy then and forevermore, for I am always with you, and you are always with Me. Oneness is Our lot! Oneness is Our fortune. Oneness is Our Reality. It is the only Reality that is.
